Method: semi-custom from a stream
Theme Song: Years and Years by King
Personality:
chivalric || idealist || respectful || impatient
Monarch has very little experience with mares and this has perhaps influenced his attitude towards them. He's almost overwhelmingly polite and chivalric to such an extent that it makes him nigh unapproachable. He doesn't understand how to talk to anyone of the female kind and often falls back on his manners to protect his dignity. He also believes that all mares should be cherished, and as such this has gotten him on the bad side of Fox, who tires quickly of the way he speaks to her. He's an idealist in the sense that he has faith things will go as planned, or that he'll be able to react and respond to the situation and complete it accordingly. It's not quite optimism as he realizes things can and do go awry, but it's an inexhaustible confidence that things will happen as they should happen.
Monarch's major failing (apart his inability to speak to mares) is his impatience. He doesn't like waiting around; he's very high energy and is often pacing or running circles over Clovercliff's lands. He's liable to jump things even when not urged to and is not a beginner's horse in any sense of the word; Monarch doesn't much care for people either way so he often forgets they're there and leaps fences or dodges into the forest heedless for their safety. It is only the sturdiest ranch hands who bother exercising him and the most determined rider. His high energy sometimes feeds into an uncomfortable level of anxiety and makes him unsuitable to be around other horses, given that if he becomes too flighty he'll start to stammer and sweat. Beau has helped him deal with this, as Beau never goes anywhere in a hurry and helps Monarch calm down. Monarch loves him for this alone, let alone all the other things had helped him fall in love with the dun.
